Can a cambelt be repaired, or does it need replacing?

The belt itself is always replaced rather than patched, but the wider timing system is what we repair: worn tensioners, noisy idler pulleys and leaking seals that threaten the belt. We will explain exactly what yours needs when we inspect it.

What noises mean a cambelt problem?

A ticking, whirring or squealing from the timing cover often points to a failing tensioner or idler bearing. If you hear anything like that, do not drive on it; call us on 01489 662025 and we will take a look.

Is an oil leak onto the cambelt a problem?

Yes. Oil degrades the rubber of the belt and can make it slip or fail early. If a cam or crank seal is weeping onto the belt, we replace the seal and the belt kit together so the repair lasts.

How quickly can you look at it?

We can usually get a timing-system concern booked in quickly for drivers in Hedge End. Call 01489 662025 with your registration and we will find you a slot.

How much will the repair cost?

It depends on what the inspection finds, so we give you a clear written quote before any work begins. We won't be beaten on price or quality.

Our mechanics in Hedge End diagnose the fault, show you exactly what we have found, and repair the timing system properly, replacing the belt, tensioner, idlers and any leaking seals as needed. No guesswork, no unnecessary work, and a fair price every time.

“I've used this company for years and years. They are honest (if a tyre doesn't need changing, they'll tell you) and keenly priced. The chap behind the desk must have been there for much of his working life: a familiar and trusted face. After years of buying all my tyres here, my trusty van is also serviced by them now, to the same high standard. You really can run a garage business with integrity and fairness; this place is the proof. Recommended without hesitation.”
